The Building Blocks of Music: Music Around the World
Music Around the World, brings chamber music to our youngest audiences. Students are introduced to the instrument families, learn how they are grouped in chamber ensembles, and are taught to use a musical vocabulary when listening.
Several musical examples are paired with paintings to demonstrate how music and art create feeling and emotion. In the first half of 2023,we presented this program to students in Fort Worth ISD, a YMCA in an underserved neighborhood, and multiple times at the Art of Living Center – an organization providing resources to those experiencing poverty and homelessness.
Plans for the upcoming year include expanding both the scope of the program and potential audiences. One version of the program focuses on Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges while another presents all American music.
We hope to present at Cook Children’s Hospital and Fort Worth museums in addition to our partnership with Fort Worth ISD.
